Bangshanky was born in Bristol, England in 2014, on the back of a shared vision of what a quintessential British hairdressers should be.

At Bangshanky we strive to create a friendly and vibrant environment. We want our clients to feel at home in a warm, sociable salon that maintains customer focus with a professional cutting edge.

Our select team of stylists and colour technicians are amongst the top creative talents in the Bristol area.

From our juniors to our most experienced hairdressers, we are committed to providing you with the best salon experience possible. Training our juniors in all aspects of hairdressing and customer service is of upmost importance to us, sowing the seeds to create the stylists of the future and investing in our local young people.

Our designated Barbering section is reminiscent of a bygone era of close shaves, beer and straight up whiskey. Whether it’s a trim or the full works the discerning man can find it here.

Neil Whitcombe

Director

As a hairdresser with over 20 years worth of experience, I feel incredibly blessed to have the passion and energy to continue to create hairstyles which my clients love. Ensuring my clients leave the salon with haircuts that they can recreate at home is really important to me. Inspired and trained by Vidal Sassoon; precision cutting is where my skills and love for hairdressing lie. At Bangshanky, I am surrounded by a team of incredibly talented individuals, each with their own unique style to offer a client. It is this diversity that enhances the experience that we provide once a client steps through the door.

Gemma Colgan

Director

As a hairdresser with 15 years of experience and passion, I still love everyday in my job. I enjoy performance, art, music and I love festivals!

My specialism is colour and I relish any technical challenge. I love all aspects of colour, from the softest, subtle highlights through to the most vibrant high contrast brights. For me, I find the real enduring joy of hairdressing is making my clients look and feel beautiful.

I like to think I can be counted on to make anyone walk out of the shop feeling pretty fabulous. My hairdressing experience stems back from a time when I needed a little guidance. Falling into hairdressing switched on a light for me, and that’s the effect that everyone should have. I take great pride in my work and love all aspects of the job. From precision cuts that range from classic to edgy. Colour transformations, perfect pixies and long hair that stretches from mermaid to Dallas!

Daniele Balasco

Born and bred in Bristol of Italian descent. Over 20 years worth of hairdressing experience which I’ve gained through extensive training by family, college and ultimately my love of the industry. Throughout this journey of self-discovery and at times self-belief; I found my passion was gents hairdressing which is where my barbering skills now firmly lie. I always look to ensure that my clients are given the highest standard of service, attention to detail and ultimately leave the salon with a haircut that they love. This is what makes me proud of everything I have achieved in my career so far and also what drives me to remain one of the most talented barbers within the Bristol scene.

Josh Andrews

I started my formal hairdressing training at Filton College and have worked at Bangshanky for over 5 years, here I have worked hard to build up a loyal following.

I style and cut both men and women’s hair, whilst following new trends and getting ideas from Instagram to stay creative. I think, I have a natural skill with barbering, beard trimming and all aspects of clipper work.

My style is sharp and clean with an attention to detail, I know what a really good haircut looks like and listen carefully to the client to really understand what they are looking for.

Coming to hairdressing a little later in life, my design degree, followed by BBC internship and several years freelancing in Costume for Film & TV, feed into my work as a creative colourist and stylist today. I get huge satisfaction from using my craft skills to make clients feel great about their hair, and always keeping it super easy to manage (my own personal hair goal!)

Having experienced training at both Vidal Sassoon and Schwarzkopf academies, I fell in love with hair from the off set. I pride myself in my fun, honest approach to hairdressing and making clients feel comfortable and ultimately giving them a hair style they can wear every day with ease.

As I have been involved in a lot of session styling, hair up is one of my main specialties, from shoots and fashion shows, to festivals and weddings. Using my creative flair and skill, I feel able to create desired looks with style and competence.
